From the end of the first week in December we have had the bet showing of barnacle Geese yet. At dawn and dusk the flights coming over are amazing. The fields at the back of the house during the day are just full of them.
We have now added a full size single oven to the carriage catering facilities so that should help with all you budding Jamie Olivers out there. We intend also to build a wood burning oven but that is probably for the 2014  season. watch this space.

First deer of the year.

We had our first visit of the year by two of the local Bambi population, very welcome they are too.
In addition the signs are out now for the local Osprey viewing point.

Champion Archers at the Station

We recently had 5 guests staying who were all entered in the Scottish Field Archery championship. We had three winners in their various classes and one runner up. Well done the team.

Galloway Forest Park

Our forestry commission look likely to be making a significant investment in developing a wider tourist strategy by upgrading a number of key visitor sites mainly at Kirroughtree and Glentrool.
The Galloway Forest Park was awarded “Dark Sky Park Status” back in 2009 and there has been substantial improvement made in the provision of the Park’s walking trails.

Romantic Breaks

The season for romance will be upon us next month. What could be more romantic after the Orient Express than a weekend break in our beautiful carriage. Contact us direct via the website or see our offer on “social wizard deals”

Breakfast Offer

We have decided to extend our services and can now offer breakfast in the house for self catering carriage guests who would like to avail themselves of this opportunity. Rates will be by agreement. Our breakfasts are legendary – see reviews on laterooms.com for comment.
